JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:

The HR Specialist is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the human resources department, including new employee onboarding, benefits administration, COBRA, FMLA, Short Term & Long-Term Disability insurance, workers' compensation, unemployment administration, maintaining employee records and any other duties related to the role. The Specialist uses Paylocity to administer the payroll function for the Commonwealth Companies and performs other general Human Resources processes. This position requires leadership and is intended to provide key elements to help Commonwealth Companies in achieving success and growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains Human Resources related records. Personnel related information, benefits records, medical, I-9 Forms, payroll, affirmative action/equal employment related records, and any other employee related matters.
  • Administers benefits programs such as health, dental, vision, life, COBRA disability insurances, 401(k) plans, and leave of absence. Assists with open enrollment process including preparing materials and employee communication.
  • Providing broad human resources support to employees in various areas including responding to inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts new hire employee orientations.
  • Keeps up to date on government regulations affecting payroll, benefits, company policies and human resource practices.
  • Processes employee payroll information (timesheets, deduction authorizations, etc.) and performs bi-weekly payroll processes for multiple companies using Paylocity.
  • Ensures required documents and reports are filed directly or by Paylocity, following local and multistate laws/guidelines as they relate to payroll.
  • 2+ years' work experience in Human Resources, benefits, or Total Rewards.
  • Associate Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 2+ years professional experience using an HRIS, Paylocity experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
