This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position. Brief Job Overview/Summary

The Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies (MAHG) program at Stockton University invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Holocaust and Genocide Studies, with a focus on displacement, to begin in September 2023. This fellowship is a result of a generous gift by an anonymous donor. Applicants from any disciplinary perspective are invited to apply. While applicants working on any aspect or case of displacement will be considered, preference will be given to scholars with a proven knowledge of the histories and cultures of Ukraine, Syria, the Bihari people, and those working on climate change and displacement.

The MAHG program at Stockton University, founded in 1998 as the first program of its kind in the country, offers a rigorous interdisciplinary and wide-ranging education on genocide and mass violence. The MAHG program works closely with the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center and with the Holocaust and Genocide Studies Undergraduate Minor program on campus. The program also plays a central role in the Refugee Studies Initiative at Stockton University, which promotes cross-disciplinary research on displacement and refugees through scholarships and events that facilitate discussions among faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students from across campus (https://stockton.edu/refugee-studies/) The MAHG program has, furthermore, secured funding to provide full scholarships for students from displaced backgrounds and communities, who are currently engaged in research on Palestinians, Bihari people, and Armenians. The Postdoctoral Fellow in Holocaust and Genocide Studies will be required to provide guidance to graduate students in the program who are engaged in research on displacement and refugees and participate in events and other programming of the Refugee Studies Initiative.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Dean of the School of General Studies and Graduate Education and the Director of the MAHG program, the Postdoctoral Fellow will:
• Offer one course, per semester, in Holocaust and Genocide Studies
• Participate in scholarship and/or creative activities as appropriate to the discipline
• Provide guidance to graduate students in the MAHG program who are engaged in research on displacement and refugees
• Provide a public presentation of their research to the university community
• Perform other duties as designated by the Dean or the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. (Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. degree in hand at the time of the application)
