The SEH Environmental Team of scientists and engineers restores balance to our world through their work to protect our land, air and water resources. The type of work you do may be in the field of air quality, environmental assessments, remediation, compliance, planning and permitting. The work of the team varies from transforming polluted land parcels into community assets, restoring damaged waterways, reimagining solid waste management strategies or assisting our clients through complex regulatory compliance and permitting processes. This Opportunity:
Serve as the technical lead for air permitting, air dispersion modeling, and environmental compliance projects. Develop air dispersion modeling approaches to demonstrate compliance with federal and state ambient air quality standards, and inhalation risk evaluations. Responsibilities need not include running the models. Lead a project team, answer questions, and monitor progress, manage schedules and assure that deadlines are met Assist with business development activities including preparing cost estimates, writing scopes of work, and communicating with clients. Develop project approaches in conjunction with client Prepare complex air emission calculations. Perform air quality engineering analysis such as Best Available Control Technology analysis or air emission control evaluations. Check accuracy of completed work and is responsible for ensuring QA/QC procedures are followed Maintain close relationship with client during project execution May be required to maintain client contact after project is completed Work with state and federal regulatory agency staff Manage, mentor, and work with staff as needed to provide a positive team environment Maintain an understanding of relevant state and federal environmental regulations and guidance documents through active participation in continuing education programs and professional associations
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental engineering, meteorology or other related engineering or science field of study Minimum of two (2) years previous experience with air quality permitting and compliance projects Understanding of air permitting approaches for major sources, area sources and sources eligible for Registration Permits. Understanding of air dispersion modeling. Understanding of state and federal air quality regulatory programs such as BACT, RACT, NESHAPs, and NSPS. Experience with conducting on-site visits Overnight travel or periods of on-site service may be required
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the States of Wisconsin or Minnesota or the ability to obtain registration in either State within six (6) months of employment. Understanding of Prevention of Significant Deterioration permitting, compliance and avoidance. Experience managing a project team and the ability to coach and mentor technical staff Experience with air dispersion modeling software. Eight (8) or more years previous experience with air pollution control system evaluations. Strong relationships with WDNR or MPCA air permitting and compliance staff. Experience participating in public meetings. Experience presenting proposals and leading client discussions.
