POSITION SUMMARY
The Foreperson provides on-site leadership on an grading/shaping/excavation projects. This position supervises and coordinates crew activities such as asphalt/concrete removals, excavation, base placement, and grading of highways, streets, parking lots, aircraft landing strips, and driveways. This position operates various pieces of equipment including, but not limited to, tractor/box scraper, dump truck, roller, excavator, dozer, and motor grader.
Responsibilities include:
Maintain a high regard for safety of employees and the general publicDirectly supervise grading crew to ensure policies and procedures are followed, work and safety standards are maintained, and schedules are metSupervise projects being inspected by consulting engineers and governmental agency engineers Provide direction, training (including cross-training), and assistance to grading crew members Establish and set grade to verify compliance with project specificationsMaintain daily time, material records, and required documentation accurately and timely Communicate daily with Superintendent to discuss goals and project statusEnsure the crew equipment is maintained properly
This Foreperson works outdoors in varying weather conditions. Average workdays during the construction season usually last up to 12 hours, requiring overtime and working occasional Saturdays.

Position Requirements
Minimum 3 years of related grading and shaping experience preferred.Must be at least 18 years old.Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record, and reliable transportation.Class A CDL License a plus.Physically fit to perform the job functions including the ability to stand, squat, bend, lift, and walk for long durations in all seasonal weather and environmental conditions in a moving highway work zone.Ability to listen, solve problems, and take direction from others while being a team player and helping to train less experienced employees.Ability to follow all safety procedures, rules, and regulations.Completion of additional project specific skills training as required.
