The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (P-APNP) is responsible for providing psychiatric consultation, assessment, evaluation and diagnosis, and medication management and education to a range of clients, including children and adults who have mental health disorders, with emphasis on treatment of adults with acute and chronic mental illness in an outpatient mental health setting. The P-APNP will work collaboratively with other mental health professionals to ensure safe, effective and efficient service delivery to clinic clients. This position works under the supervision of and reports to the Director of Clinical Services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides mental health consultation, assessment and diagnosis, medication management and care coordination pursuant to client individual plans of care.Will acquire knowledge of local community mental wellness, health and public health resources, systems and trends.Responsible for documentation of client services, response to treatment (progress/outcomes) in the agencies Electronic Health Record (progress notes, prescriptive and medication records, treatment plans, treatment reviews, discharge summaries, etc.) as per agency standards.Responsible for maintaining client and collateral contacts and treatment planning according to the agency's standards, licensure standards, funder/purchaser and reimbursement requirements.Consults with physician on client evaluation, diagnosis and prescription of medical and therapeutic measures, as appropriateConsults and coordinates care with staff clinicians, and other care professionals regarding the treatment of individual clients.Communicates with clinicians regarding client status and progress to provide education, guidance, and follow-up in order to assure continuity of care.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary health care team.Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others.Maintains client confidentiality at all times.Participates in quality assurance activities.Participates in conferences, staff meetings, seminars, and in-service training or teaching programs.Meets agency productivity standards.Available for psychiatric emergencies.Responsible for maintaining active licensure in good standing pursuant to Wisconsin Administrative Code and WI Chapter DHS 35. This includes ensuring against any lapse in licensure, registration, certification, etc., timely completion of necessary continuing education hours as required by the licensee's examining board, and ongoing compliance with Wisconsin caregiver background checks and misconduct reporting requirements.

Possess a Masters Degree of Nursing from an accredited college/university.Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Wisconsin, andAdvanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin, andNurse Practitioner certification issued by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), orNurse Practitioner certification issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), andFamily Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, orClinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health, and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Child/Adolescent Psychiatric and Mental Health.Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration.2 years of experience providing and coordinating mental health care and treatment for clients with acute, chronic and complex mental health conditions.Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency, and excellent decision-making skills.Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.Demonstrated knowledge of and proven ability to maintain an outpatient clinical practice serving clients with complex, acute and chronic mental health conditions.Establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with a qualified physician and provide evidence of a consultative arrangement annually, more often if there are any changes mid-year.
